THEMARSSOCIETY
Public Outreach Task Force
Outreach Homepage In 1969, the United States of America launched humanity's first expedition to another world. Three years later, we retreated to low Earth orbit. It is time for the world to break free from the gravity well that has confined it for nearly three decades.

The Mars Society Public Outreach Group exists to mobilize support for aggressive private and government-funded Mars exploration programs, to clear up the misunderstandings that have plagued discussions about Mars for decades, and to show the world the support that the public has for Mars exploration.

Promoting Your Chapter

This is a particularly exciting time for setting up booths at movie theaters because of the two Mars-related movies came out recently. However, this is an outreach activity that can be done for any space-related movie. The Boston NSS, for example, has had success with booths at movies like "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace". Although a bit over the top, this advice for setting up displays will get you through the entire process.

We are starting a national radio campaign to provide much needed publicity. Although this sounds expensive and time consuming, it need not be if we get enough interested volunteers because college and other small local radio stations are often eager for content. If you are interested and willing to give short radio interviews, please contact Chris Carberry. More details and helpful information about how to run a radio interview will be forthcoming shortly.
