Will do Maggie!
I think we need to discuss the basic issues of whether or not people have the right to terraform Mars, to what extent, and how knowledge gained might help us re-terraform Earth. What does eveyone else think? This is for a panel discussion at the Mars Conference in Toronto. Let Maggie know at Mzubrin@aol.com
also: What is the chance of setting aside some evening time (at least 2 informal after-dinner hours) for an in-depth discussion about sustainable life support issues, especially the work we are doing in the Green CELSS Task Force to create a viable human-rated Controlled Ecological Life Support System (greenhouse) for F-MARS and for planet Mars. From communications with other interested parties I know this would be very well attended. I have videos of BIOSTAR-A and of Biosphere 2 which would be perfect to initiate discussion - if a VHS VCR/TV is available. What do you think? I am very interested in facilitating the discussion if a time and space can be allocated.

If we have access to rooms in the conference center after hours, we could easily have one or two evenings of life support workshopping ad hoc. All the other Mars Conf's I've been to have had lots of well attended ad hoc groupings.
I think a terraforming panel is or should be a tradition at MS Conferences. If for no other reason that the audience will leave each year, knowing more about comparative planetology between Earth and Mars than they did the year before. THAT kind of knowledge is very important for people to take away to be disseminated to the public. Maybe even moreso than details about this or that mission or technology.
